Details are still sketchy, but a major celebrity bash looks to be in the works for Charlotte the night of Sept. 5.
That’s when ONE, the global anti-poverty organization founded by rocker-activist Bono, will join with Politico, the favorite Web site for political junkies, to co-host a star-studded event.
ONE and Politico will also co-host in Tampa during the Republican National Convention.
According to a news release, the events will “feature performances by well-known musicians, bringing together some of the conventions’ most high-profile attendees.”
Alas, the release also says “the events are by invitation only.” (Doesn’t sound very democratic.) No word yet on who all those celebs will be and where they will mingle. Tim Funk

Well, this ought to put the Tea Baggers in a tizzy. If there's anything they hate more than plain ol' Liberals, it's celebrity Liberals. And Politico on top of that? Talk about pouring gas on a fire.

To anon 8:01 PM - First of all, I am a Republican but can't stand the tea baggers (give the party a bad name, too selective on issues, don't understand big picture on things, too focused on social issues over economic, etc) but if you read the article you would see that same group will also be at the GOP convention. I understand it being Charlotte that this is news related to the Dems but many of these groups, even liberal ones, try to appeal to all political views since they want, first and foremost, money (regardless of where it comes from). Also, I seriously doubt you read George W Bush's book but if you did you would see that he and Bono actually developed some level of friendship and he respects what Bono is trying to do for the world.
See everything isn't black and white (and I don't mean that racially) regardless of how many libs (and some conservatives) want to view it!

Bono's anti-poverty foundation ONE is under pressure to explain its finances after it was revealed that only a small percentage of money it raises reaches the needy.
The non-profit organisation set up by the U2 frontman received almost £9.6million in donations in 2008 but handed out only £118,000 to good causes (1.2 per cent).
The figures published by the New York Post also show that £5.1million went towards paying salaries.
