HuffPost's contest winners will blog from Charlotte and Tampa

Want to win an expense-paid trip ... to Charlotte? How 'bout Tampa?

The Huffington Post is running a contest to choose up to 24 "citizen journalists" to cover the Republican and Democratic national conventions. Half will cover each convention -- the GOP is meeting in Tampa, the Dems in Charlotte.

According to HuffPost political writer Howard Fineman, winners get airfare, five nights in a hotel, a per diem and access to convention work sites.

"The winners, " he wrote, "also will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see history in the making, and report on it as it happens for one of the world's leading news sites."

Details are on the Huffington Post website.

The bloggers would be part of the organization's "Off the Bus" program that in 2008 attracted 10,000 amateur journalists. One who made an impact: Mayhill Fowler. She was the one who reported Barack Obama's controversial remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser about Pennsylvania voters who "cling to guns or religion."

Surprise, surprise.

Yet another DNC article from the Charlotte Observer.

Are we seriously going to have to read this crap every day for 7 more months?

And Huffington Post? Really? As much as liberals like to bash Fox News (even though it continues to lead ratings over MSNBC, ABC and CBS combined), is it not okay to have the same perception of a liberal/biased website like the Huffington Post??

Anonymous 7:20 - Considering this is the "Convention Watch" blog, it's very likely they're going to be spending some time talking about the convention.

Just so we're clear, having a consistent lead in the ratings is not an indicator of impartiality, or quality journalism (Fox News is proof of this). As for The Huffington Post, it was founded by Arianna Huffington as a left leaning news site so I'm not sure anyone is trying to make an argument that it's not OK to view it that way.

Take a deep breath, relax and use your noggin before posting next time.

Wow. I'd love to get in on this, covering either one. I'd do such a Hunter S. Thompson number on them, they'd never get over it.

Oh, and to the anonymous whiner above who is crying about "another DNC article"? Tell the person holding the gun to your head and making you read it to stop.

Publishing the likes of Larry Doyle should not be classified as news worthy. So the winners will get a double lesson, how to hate conservatives and Christians.
