Cleveland mayor weighs in

Add Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson to the list of those weighing in on today's DNC announcement. His city was one of four finalists for the 2012 convention along with Charlotte, Minneapolis and St. Louis.

“While we are disappointed in the DNC’s decision, we were very competitive and we are proud of the effort that we put forward. I send my congratulations to Charlotte for being chosen,” Jackson said in a statement.

Meanwhile, there was no mention this afternoon of the DNC decision on the homepage of www.cleveland.com, which draws in news from The Plain Dealer and other news outlets. Earlier today, the site ran a wire report announcing Charlotte's selection as convention host. -- APRIL BETHEA

Maybe its okay that Cleveland's press didn't comment much on Charlotte's win....
I noticed that Raliegh N&O also had minimal coverage. The web-site headline is about two groundhogs who disagreed ... hen NC state recruiting prospects .... No mention of DNC or the fact that North Carolina is the site of the 2012 convention (until searching down a couple of pages). So Cleveland, thank you for at least the mention ...!

Maybe the orgasmic response by local media was all that was needed. Since when does the rest of North Carolina give a hoot about Charlotte? Or as it's know in Raleigh "The Great State of Mecklenburg".

Being the Great State of Mecklenburg is an honor. Thanks Raleigh. Great is great but greater is greater espec for those in the greater Charlotte area like our beloved Waxhaw.

The Plain Dealer is not a very good newspaper and/or site. I live in Cleveland and I read the Observer on line!

Congrats to Charlotte on the Convention win, great locale for such an event!
